Many marketing and business experts have stated that most of the careers that will be available in 2025 will not look like the careers of 2015. The advancement of technology is increasing exponentially, and businesses are the driving force behind the charge. These businesses are in need of very specialized, targeted employees to perform specific tasks incredibly well.
The manufacturing jobs of the past millennium will slowly be phased out and outsourced to the cheapest labor across the world at salaries that will not sustain a functioning lifestyle in the United States. The new careers of 2025 that fill the middle class and the upwardly mobile will be overwhelmingly technological.
Below are a few of the careers that will be in high demand in the year 2025.
Specialized High Tech Administration duties
The majority of high paying, career focused jobs in the year 2025 will be encompassed by an administrator with a detailed knowledge of a specialized program. Most of the time, this program will have to do with the job or process functionality of a business or performing administrative duties on an industry standard program.
These new jobs in 2025 will most likely not be filled by people with generic bachelor’s degrees. Either a specialized Masters degree in the program will be required or the company will train an employee (usually through an unpaid competitive internship program) to use the program.
Many companies are waiting until technical employees prove themselves through freelance work, watching the various freelance web sites for high ranking talent. They may also hire freelancers on a regular basis in order to save on pension and health care costs. Employees in this sector should be prepared to spend the majority of their career, especially at the beginning, as an independent contractor who is in charge of his or her own personal health care and retirement responsibilities.
Technically Proficient Manufacturing
The manufacturing industry will consolidate and continue to automate as many procedures as possible to build on cost effective measures. However, most operations will still require a human to oversee the synchronization between the many automated processes that go on in the manufacturing environment.
This employee will need to be highly technically skilled in the processes of the specific company, and it is hard to gain this type of experience unless you have had that specific experience in a similar company. For this reason, most of the movement in the manufacturing industry will be sideways as companies steal top managerial candidates from each other.
Agriculture and Fishing
The one industry that will still require a great deal of human capital is the agriculture industry. When it comes to growing food, there are only so many processes that can be automated by machines. Although many farms are consolidating and being bought by bigger conglomerates, humans are still necessary to oversee many of the more sensitive processes involved in agriculture.
Jobs in agriculture are trending towards the lower middle class, but the skill set is highly specialized. Employees hoping to maintain a position and build a reputation in this industry will most likely attend specialized schools.
Perhaps the only industry that will see expansion outside of high tech will be the medical industry. As the largest generation of births in the history of the world grows older, services for elderly people will be in high demand. Currently, the medical industry was the only industry that saw an expansion during every year of the Great Recession, with adult education programs for nurses and dental hygienists performing just as well or better in terms of enrollment as in normal economic times.
Many large healthcare providers are picking up highly ranked freelance private nurses for continued independent contract work. Many health care firms employ independent contractors as nurses primarily, and this trend is definitely not slowing down.
With many people starting their own microbusinesses, outsourcing accounting and administrative duties will fall to the best virtual assistants. Microbusinesses usually do not work out of a dedicated office, and as such, must employ virtual assistants instead of physical ones.
These jobs are trending towards college graduates and soon to be graduates, some of which are monetizing the effort and making it full time.
